A cocktail of advertising, social media, and technology
A cocktail of advertising, social media, and technology
Whilst Youtube remains the Daddy of video sharing sites, there are quite a few interesting new(ish)contenders out there.
Seesmic: although Seesmic has now been out for a few months, I recently discovered the Seesmic plugin that allows readers to leave video comments on blog posts, taking commenting to a whole new level! Users have a choice between a video comments plug-in that posts comments in a traditional way or the embeddable player.
12seconds.tv although still in alpha, is in my eyes, a serious contender. 12seconds.tv is the Twitter of video sharing. It lets user share 12 seconds video updates and also automatically sends a message to a Twitter account when users upload a video.
Funny or Die: Unless you live on another planet, you’ve probably heard that Paris Hilton wants to be US president and paint the White House, errr Pink. The video was originally uploaded on comedy video site, Funny or Die.
Funny or Die is unique in that it contains a good deal of exclusive material from a number of famous contributors, and has its own Funny or Die Team (FOD Team) which creates original material for the site. Videos are voted on by users of the site; those that are deemed funny stay, but those that are not “die” and are relegated to the site’s “crypt”
I really like the video-commentic concept… I should perhaps start thinking of self-hosting my blog…
DO you use any of these sites? What do you think of them?

I do see them, I just wish I could be more brave to use them – I get lazy when it comes to videos…downloading and uploading them, tagging etc.. – sites are cool though.

Yeah, good point Cedric – Vimeo should also have been included in the list.

Hi,
Video sharing is all the rage these days. We all want to share our videos, to share our passions and the things we like. There are so many sites around to publish our videos on the web that it is sometimes hard to make a choice. We know some of them like YouTube, Revver or Dailymotion, but there are so many others competing to be the number one, or targeting a specific audience, whether geographically (China, Japan, Turkey…), by language (German, Arabic, French…) or for the kind of content they enable to publish (cooking, planes, extreme sports…).
I have compiled a growing list of more than 750 video sharing sites, video search engines, and video download sites that you can check at http://www.ilikesharingvideos.com
For each of them, you will get useful information such as their history, the country from which most of their visitors come, their niche, their rank, their latest news…
This site offers some other interesting features, like a forum about online videos, how to make money with your videos, how to create your own YouTube site, etc.
So if you are interested in video sharing or online video marketing, give an eye to this site, it worths it.
Cheers
