People want / need individuality... and now some of that has been taken away. I think people are upset about it because it's such a major change (as Gary said). But then again, everyone was up in arms when the NewsFeed came out - and yet, we all got used to it because it became an integral part of staying up-to-date with our FB social network. As with anything, if you're not used to it (and not expecting it) it can take a while to get used to everything, and a lot of people are inherently conservative and resistant to change. But it's easier to use, easier to organise, has a cleaner layout, and means I'm spending less time scrolling or clicking looking to find something. Hopefully most people will come round to it, although judging at the level of protest against it current, you'd think Facebook had been forcing all users to watch them drowning kittens when they logged in.
