I heart Facebook (and Twitter too)
TweetI’ve been really pleased to see all the buzz in the press around Twitter lately (albeit not always positive), and at least my ‘offline’ friends now remotely know what I am talking about when I mention Twitter… well kind of!
I am however a little sick and tired of hearing that Twitter is going to kill Facebook … I don’t think so!
Twitter is a micro-blogging site used by people who blog and whilst it may be growing and getting tons of coverage at the mo, it is not mainstream yet. I would even go as far as saying that it will never be mainstream.
A friend of mine played with my Twitter account the other day, and simply didn’t get it… ‘Why would you want to tell people you don’t know what you’re up to?’, she asked.
For most people, Twitter doesn’t make sense: why would you want to write in only 140 characters, and why would you want random people from Texas following you and replying to your tweets? We live in London, right?!
Facebook I still love you

Facebook is a reflection of the real, offline world. It allows you to flick through crazy pictures of that cool night out of your school friend, showcase cool pics of your travels, but most importantly your friends who live in various countries are just a click away.
A picture tells a thousand words
Below is my best friend’s Facebook travel diary. His Facebook page is the guardian of his memories, but it is also his only connection to us. One word to describe Facebook: powerful

I’d love to hear from people who don’t use Facebook so much anymore – is Twitter really impacting on the way you use Facebook? Would you say that Facebook is redundant? Will Twitter kill Facebook?

At first, I really like the new design of your blog
Secondly, since I’m on Twitter, I update more often my FB status (it’s a little bit like sending a tweet;)), in addition, my friends on FB are totally different of my followers on Twitter so I really don’t think it’s redundant.
Thridly, I’m glad to notice I’m not the only one who can’t make her friends understand how great and powerful is Twitter!

I actually use Facebook a lot less now I’ve started using Twitter – I seem to care less about reading status updates on Facebook about how drunk people were, in favour of updates about how craft projects are going, what new things are out there etc on Twitter.
I do still use Facebook though — like you I have totally different friends on there and use it in a very different way when I am there.

Hi Perri,
Welcome! I rarely pay attention to status updates andin fact rarely update mine, which is probably the reason why I don’t get bored of Facebook.
Facebook = friends, Twitter = business and networking
