Getting under the skin of the Flickr community
TweetIf you work in Digital PR, chances are Flickr will be included in your overall social media strategy. But what if instead of just creating a Flickr group where users can add their pictures, you instead identified the Flickr influencers and engaged with them?
Consumers (and not necessarily consumers who blog or read blogs) often take pictures of products or brands they like, and this can influence their community as a result. Why not find your brand evangelists on Flickr and include them in your PR campaign?

Absolutely spot on thinking. Some of my clients' biggest brands are not the most exciting of products – think washing detergents and other FMCGs. But go to Flickr and you'll find so many photos of product packaging throughout the years, many of which take people back to their childhood or misspent youth which in turn instigates discussion and debate. Flickr is a great platform for building brand perceptions around content. Sweet.

Thanks for commenting and apols about the late reply! I think it's a real shame PRs don't use Flickr more often as a good Flickr strategy can perhaps sometimes be more effective than a bloggers strategy… My next campaign involves YouTube and I am going to engage with YouTube users… It'll be interesting to see how they respond
