It’s that time of the year again. What are you New Year’s resolutions?
Dear blog,
It is that time of the year where I should publish my New Year’s Resolutions for all to see. Wish me luck, and thanks James for inspiring me!
Resolution #1: blog more
I’ve been suffering from blogger’s fatigue on and off since I started blogging back in 2006, which has sadly impacted on the quality of the content on this blog. I recently spotted a tremendous post by Mack Collier who recommends that you pick 3-5 topic buckets for your blog and spread out the various topics throughout the week so that your blog stay fresh, relevant and influential.
Following Mack’s advice, the topic buckets I picked for this blog are:
1) Trending in social now – a broad topic where I’ll be discussing the latest campaigns, the latest platform news, brand news, stats and analytics, interviews and guest posts.
2) Social businesses – how business can harness the power of social and mistakes to avoid. I’ve primarily focussed on fashion 2.0 posts to date, but I’d like to expand to other sectors in 2012.
3) Pop culture – digital culture and art, books, exhibition, gadget reviews and anything else that catches my eye!
Secondary topics:
4) Social and SEO (I you work in SEO and want to have your article you’d like featured on this site, then drop me a line)
5) Mobile

Resolution #2: Start networking again
I have met some absolutely amazing people over the last year, but I have been a little lazy when it comes to networking over the last 12 months. Time to get out there again!
Resolution #3: Use my time more effectively
I work a lot, I go to the gym a lot, and I socialise a lot which doesn’t leave me an awful lot of time to think. I’d like to utilise my spare time better again to start thinking; thinking about my blog, thinking about getting a personal project off the ground, thinking about what I’d like to achieve in the next 5 years.
Resolution #4: Enjoy what London has to offer
I guess this resolution is interlinked with my previous point… Last year, I made the decision to organise one thing I could look forward to each month. I had a blast.
This year I’d like take the time to enjoy the London scene more. The Hockney exhibition is the first thing on my list but I’ve also promised myself that I would finally buy that Tate membership I’ve been meaning to buy for ages, go to the opera, go to a play/musical, attend a London Fashion Week party. I’ll make up the rest of the list as I go along, but fire away any suggestions!
Resolution #5: Get a personal project off the ground
We get so obsessed with helping clients achieve their goals that we sometimes forget to think about ourselves. So this year I’d like to focus on myself for a change and get a small project off the ground. More on this soon.
What are your New Year’s resolutions? I hope you’re looking forward to 2012 as much as I am!

Happy New Year, Lolly! So glad you liked the post on Topic Buckets, it really does help me!

Thanks for the mention Lol, glad we could inspire this post.
I’ve managed to use my time better this year by a) limiting the time I spend on Twitter, Facebook etc. and b) writing myself a schedule for the rest of my daily tasks. Sounds basic but it really helps!
Tate membership’s an awesome idea btw!
Good luck sticking to the resos, catch you later

Go Lolly! I like the ‘more time to think’ resolution. And personal projects. I’m cutting down on social media and other unproductive distractions.

Happy New Year! Great post. Most of your resolutions apply to me to. So we should try and keep each other motivated to achieve our goals.

Happy New Year to you Lolly. Great resolutions for 2012. I’m going to look into Mack’s bucket recommendation for blogs too. I used to average 13 posts a month, but down to 5 average for 2011. Maybe I can get it up to 8…
My other resolution, to keep in contact with the blogger’s I like (you’re one!!) So I expect to visit your blog more during the coming year.
Have a great 2012!

Wow! Happy New Year everyone! I am overwhelmed by the kind comments
Mack, great blog posts, as always!
Michal, I am going to do the opposite; I am going to increase my SM consumption quite simply because I don’t feel I’ve been on top of things lately.
PJ – yup – let’s catch up soon!
Chris, long time, no speak! Happy New Year to you too! I also really like your blog but never leave my footprint. Hopefully this will change this year
