Nov 17th
Twitter T-shirts are everywhere in the States and I am glad to have finally found a UK-based company that prints them. Geeks FTW
Clothes2order.com are currently running a competition asking Twitterers to send their favourite Tweet to @Clothes2order.
The winning Tweet will be selected at 15.30 every Friday and the winner will get their own Tweeshirt printed and delivered to their door. Get the creative juices flowing, and start Twittering them your slogans today!
I am therefore I tweet – is that a little too cliche
Should bloggers get paid to write blog posts?
Nov 15th
3-4 PR pitches land in my inbox each week; I don’t mind being pitched and will happily write about brands and products provided the content is relevant to my blog.
An agency recently offered me €70 to write about their latest social media campaign; this made feel somewhat uncomfortable as I don’t think that bloggers should be paid to write about brands/products and I think this is a worrying trend…
I am very much pro-incentivising bloggers for their time but favour product-based incentives, thus giving bloggers the opportunity to experience the brand/product in question first-hand.
What do you guys think? Should bloggers get More >
The Socialisation of TV Advertising
Nov 11th
TV is becoming increasingly social. As Neil points out, Twitter went into complete overdrive over the X-Factor last Sunday following Lucie Jones’ shock eviction, with 8 out of the top 10 Twitter trending topics being X-Factor related*.
I got rid of my TV when I moved in my flat last year; my flat is on the small side, and I prefer to indulge in catch up TV these days.
BBC Iplayer offers ad-free programmes whilst ITV and Channel 4 still broadcast ads.
Interestingly, catch up TV ads are interactive in a Spotify clickable banners kind of way – when you More >
Timeless Marketing Classics – Groundswell
Nov 8th
Fellow blogger Graeme Harrison recently dropped me an email asking me to contribute to his list of Timeless Classics, a list of a list of books that have shaped the advertising and marketing communications landscape.
An impressive list of bloggers have contributed to the list so far including Seth Godin, Chris Anderson, Helge Tennø, Adam Richardson, Russell Davies, Neil Perkin, Jon Steel, Eoan Pritchard, and last but certainly not least, Katy Lindemann.
I’ve been thinking about which book should be included in this wonderful list over the past couple of weeks, and have finally settled for THE social media bible, Groundswell.

Get Real, Get a Prescription – Pfizer’s shocking TV ad
Nov 7th
Recent research by healthcare company Pfizer shows that more than one in seven British adults surveyed (15%) has admitted to bypassing the healthcare system to get hold of prescription only medicine without a prescription. This is a shocking trend as fake medicines purchased online can contain harmful ingredients such as rat poison3 and can cause harm to patients and even lead to death.
Pfizer launched earlier this year a cinema ad of a man coughing up a dead rat after taking medicine bought from an illicit website.
The ad has now made it to our TV screens and is considered so More >
theroyalfail.com – seriously clever!
Oct 31st
Now, this is THE best online promotion I’ve seen in absolutely ages.
I stumbled upon a micro-site yesterday called theroyalfail.com; the site does what it says on the tin i.e. pokes fun at the Royal Mail strike. The game is simple: throw as many envelopes as you can in the van to help get rid of the mail backlog within 30 seconds.
This is when it gets better; upon completion of the game, players get £4.50 off at Firebox with all items purchased delivered by courier!
I had never heard of Firebox before and they sell some seriously cool geeky More >
