Jun 30th
There are so many Twitter tools out there that’s it’s hard to know which ones are worth using. Here are my tried and tested top 5 Twitter tools; some of these tools are new, others have been around for a while…
1) I have a real soft spot for Tiny Chat at the mo! Tiny Chat is a chatroom where you can host audio and video conferences with a number of friends/colleagues; in addition you can easily share documents with other members of the chat.
2) Splitweet is a great little tool for managing multiple Twitter accounts. They always make a point More >
Michael Jackson almost breaks the Internet
Jun 27th
I always joke about wanting to break the Internet with my online shenanigans, but at one point on Thursday evening, after the unexpected death of legendary pop star Michael Jackson was announced, it felt like the Internet was breaking under the strain of web users searching for the latest information.
Celebrity news websites which were first with the news such as TMZ, the American celebrity gossip site which originally broke the story, and infamous celebrity blogs like Perez Hilton, also suffered periods of down time.
Google confirmed to that when the news first broke it feared it was under attack. More >

If you like the Vodafone UK hols mashup, you’ll love this!
Kleenex has just launched a hayfever Twitter/Google Maps mashup; the aim of the map is to provide real-time information on how badly hayfever is affecting the UK as most data up till now has been predicted. To populate the map all you have to do is send a tweet which provides details of where you are and how bad the hayfever is, alongside the hashtag #atishoo so that Kleenex can track them all for e.g. #atishoo LN4 – 5/5

Music and Social Media – Amandine hits the right notes
Jun 21st
Six million broadband users are estimated to download files illegally every year in the UK in a practice that music and film companies claim is costing them billions of pounds in lost revenue annually.
So what can music companies do to tackle music piracy? Two things spring to mind: a) Fine illegal music downloaders (virtually impossible) 2) Be creative
I recently (legally) downloaded French singer Amandine Bourgeois’ first album and was pleasantly surprised to be given access to a VIP space on her website that includes an exclusive video diary, acoustic songs, photos and a fan forum where you can More >
Know your limits 2009 advertising campaign
Jun 15th
You may remember last year’s Home Office ‘You wouldn’t start a night like this’ campaign targeted at 18-24 year-olds about the effects of binge drinking. Advertising agency VCCP have produced an exciting new advert exclusively running online.
A presenter asks members of the public to smear vomit on themselves, pinch a stranger’s bum and fight. His demands escalate to glassing another person and throwing a bin through a window. The advert captures people’s expressions when confronted with what some people will do when they’re drunk.
Overall I think it’s a nice idea but I would like to see more posters/promotional materials (coasters /alcohol More >
