NFC Marker Spotted at Bus Stop
Jan 23rd
I spotted this NFC marker at a bus stop a couple of days ago. NFC has been a bit of a buzzword since 2011, however there have been very few concrete examples of campaigns integrating the technology, in the UK anyway.
What’s quite interesting here, is that they’re essentially prompting marketers to check out their site. Sadly, my phone is not NFC enabled, but it’s only a matter of time until the new technology arrives.
A very smart move by Clear Channel, considering Clapham is full of advertising and social media types!
5 must have health & fitness iPhone apps and a personal trainer in Clapham / South West London
Jul 21st
If you follow me on Foursquare, you might have noticed that I’ve been spending an awful lot of time at Fitness First in the last few months even unlocking the elusive gym rat badge
Being a right geek, I have been using a number of iPhone apps, which have really helped me track my progress over the last few months and are worth looking into:
- My Fitness Pal (Free): a great little app which lets you track the calories you consume, to help you achieve your nutrition goals. The barcode scanner which instantly displays nutritional values is genius.

Fashion and QR codes – a match made in heaven
May 23rd
With increased hype and discussions, QR codes usage is moving past its early adopter phase in the UK, or at least it it seems. While QR codes are popping up with greater frequency on marketing materials, ads and other surfaces, much of the population still doesn’t know what they are or how to use them.
Based on my personal observations, fashion brands are fast embracing this new technology offering exciting marketing experiences where mobile, social and experiential marketing meet and blend.

Mobile stats: The Android Market will become the biggest mobile content platform in the world by August 2011
May 5th
Berlin-based Market Research Agency research2guidance have just pinged over interesting Android data which may be of interest.
When it comes to creating apps for my clients, I am (occasionally!) guilty of over-focussing on the iOS. Whilst creating an iPhone app may sound like an amazing idea, we shouldn’t neglect other OS, which still represent the majority of smartphone ownership.
Key findings include: :
The Android Market will become the biggest mobile content platform in the world by August 2011; given the current growth rates of app numbers the Android Market will reach 425,000 apps in August and will be surpassing the Apple More >
The Mobile Movement: Understanding Smartphone Consumers
Apr 28th
Always on, always with us, always connected
I’ve been increasingly interested in mobile marketing of late and just thought I would share this video/study courtesy Google Mobile Ads.
I interviewed a friend of mine about his mobile consumption back in 2007; have a listen if you have a spare 5 minutes and you’ll see how much technology and our behaviour has evolved since then.
Expect more mobile marketing related posts in the coming weeks.
The fashionable rise of Tumblr and Instagram
Apr 5th
I’ve changed my mind about Tumblr.
Two years ago, I left Tumblr for Posterous, but it seems that Tumblr has made an interesting come back in recent weeks; it’s simple to use, customizable (oh Posterous, your templates are too clinical for my liking), fun (reblogging this, reblogging that!) with a strong sense of community making it easy for users to engage with, and reblog branded content.
And fashion brands have fast spotted an opportunity to set up a presence on the simple blogging service. Tumblr is a great space to convey brands’ DNA through images and content that may not necessarily appeal More >
