5 must have health & fitness iPhone apps and a personal trainer in Clapham / South West London
Jul 21st
If you follow me on Foursquare, you might have noticed that I’ve been spending an awful lot of time at Fitness First in the last few months even unlocking the elusive gym rat badge
Being a right geek, I have been using a number of iPhone apps, which have really helped me track my progress over the last few months and are worth looking into:
- My Fitness Pal (Free): a great little app which lets you track the calories you consume, to help you achieve your nutrition goals. The barcode scanner which instantly displays nutritional values is genius.
- Nike+ GPS: A fantastic running More >
The fashionable rise of Tumblr and Instagram
Apr 5th
I’ve changed my mind about Tumblr.
Two years ago, I left Tumblr for Posterous, but it seems that Tumblr has made an interesting come back in recent weeks; it’s simple to use, customizable (oh Posterous, your templates are too clinical for my liking), fun (reblogging this, reblogging that!) with a strong sense of community making it easy for users to engage with, and reblog branded content.
And fashion brands have fast spotted an opportunity to set up a presence on the simple blogging service. Tumblr is a great space to convey brands’ DNA through images and content that may not necessarily appeal More >
Love instagr.am? Love cats? Say hello to instac.at (the rise of mobile photo sharing)
Apr 4th
According to *a number* of digital PROs, 50% of the internet is made up of cats and the other 50% of something else I can’t mention on here otherwise my blog will be spammed forever!
@adverplanner and @sydlawrence have created instac.at which essentially pulls all pictures uploaded on intagram tagged #cat. If you’re not keen on cat (but who wouldn’t though) you can also search for other hashtags.
It’s the first use of instagram outside the mobile platform I’ve spotted so far, and a very clever one indeed. The result: 2199 page views, 677 easter eggs found, time spent on site: 28 hours (Saturday 2nd April). Now that’s More >
Mercedes-Benz does #LFW: fashionable content curation
Mar 3rd
With modern web technologies everyone can be a content creator. This onslaught of content gives consumers more choices than ever, making it increasingly difficult to find the best content for a specific interest or need.
I’ve been determined not to miss this season’s London Fashion Week, but quickly realised that trying to keep on top of the #LFW hashtag is virtually impossible. There are simply too many sources to choose from. But I found the help I needed in the app store.
Mercedes-Benz launched last year (I think) a very cool app which pulls in videos and tweets, and behind the scenes content from More >
‘Angry Birds Seasons’ Christmas game out now
Dec 2nd
Both versions of the game became available yesterday, with Angry Birds Seasons being available on Apple devices either in the App Store, as a free upgrade (called ‘Season’s Greetings’) for anyone who bought the special Halloween version of the game (which was well worth buying!)
The title Angry Birds Seasons strongly suggests that we’re likely to see more differently-themed seasonal additions to the Angry Bird franchise every few months – although whether they’ll be free updates or paid for remains to be seen.
The game has been designed as an advent calendar and one can hope there’ll be a nice little surprise More >
One Day Project: 3 iPhone developers, 3 games, just $100
Aug 19th
With over 90,000 apps in the App store, getting your app noticed can be a bit of challenge. So the 3 developers at Tiny White Tribe decided to add a little excitment in the whole marketing of their app, and came up with One Day Project (ODP) concept.
They spent the $100 on essentials such as Redbull, beers, snacks and ice-cream, and created 3 iPhone games in just 3 days. That’s only 24 hour per game; pretty impressive if you take a look at this iPhone developer forum thread.
Lukas the developer who pitched me, mentioned that they had previous experience of developing iPhone More >
