Digital PR Campaigns
My take on the Absolut Kindness campaign
May 4th
I’ve always loved Absolut Vodka’s versatile advertising, and I have written about the brand on a couple of occasions in the past.
When I found out about Absolut’s latest hybrid advertising, offline PR and social media campaign, I had to check it out!
According to the Absolut Kindness website, in an Absolut World, currency would be replaced by acts of kindness; call me cynical, but money makes the world go round! (which is incidentally the lyrics of the soundtrack they used for their commercial).
From a marketing point of view, the campaign didn’t do much for me for the following reasons: - More >
Oui to safe sex with MTV, Spotify and BodyShop
Apr 6th
When the lovely team at Consolidated PR asked me to put together a playlist to help spread the word about sex safe, I couldn’t say no!
This is a really cool online campaign that includes various online elements such as the Yes, Yes, Yes blog with dozens of playlists you can listen to using Spotify as well as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and Flickr profiles.
There are 33 million people living with AIDS and HIV, a number that is increasing each day; a very scary number indeed.
So what can you do to help?

Earth Hour – spreading the word through social media
Mar 26th
Have you spotted the Earth Hour widget on the top right-hand side corner of my screen? Pretty cool, huh?
Earth Hour is a global event taking place on Saturday 28 March 2009, when people, businesses and iconic buildings around the world will switch off their lights for an hour at 8.30pm local time – making a statement to the world’s governments for more urgent and effective action on climate change.
Climate change is a scary thing indeed – remember the snow we had a few month ago followed by the ultra-mild weather we’ve had over the last few weeks? Scary huh?

We7 Valentine’s playlist… with a twist!

Valentine’s Day – some love it, others hate it (a bit like Marmite…)
The folks at We7 recently asked me to put together a Valentine’s playlist, and as I’ll be DJing on Saturday night, I just thought it would be a fab opportunity to compile a few cool R&B/Funky House tracks for my Saturday night set!
We7 is a pretty cool site; it’s dead easy to use (unlike Last fm), and you can listen to hours of music (unlike iTunes!!!) for free! The Seldom Kid has put together both a pro-Valentine’s Day playlist as well an Anti-Valentine’s day playlist – have a listen when you More >
Blog Blazers – inside the head of 40 top bloggers
Dec 29th
One of the books that has hit my mailbox lately for review is Blog Blazers - a book of interviews with 40 top bloggers exploring how to create successful blogs.
The book was written by Canadian entrepreneur Stephane Grenier from FollowSteph.com, and features 40 (mostly American) great bloggers including:
- Seth Godin
- Alex Papadimoulis (The Daily WTF)
- Anita Campbell (Small Business Trends)
- David Armano (Logic + Emotion)
- Manolo Blahnik (the Manalo Shoe Blog)
The format of the book is interview style with Steph asking the same set of questions to all bloggers and the bloggers responding. Each interview makes a chapter of the book. Steph asks questions such as:
