I primarily rely on digital sources, mostly from my social networks, for information these days, and tend to be highly influenced by the digital content that comes my way.

Accurate Social Media stats are hard to come by, however Trendstream have recently released a Global Map of Social Web, which illustrates peoples participation across the world.
The map is created from data collected as part of the Global Web Index research program, which analyses web usage, social web and associated impact in 16 countries across the globe.
The map visualises the number of active bloggers, social networkers, video sharers, photo uploaders and microbloggers. The length of the curve represents the penetration and the size represents the universe size.
