Goodbye chain emails, hello Facebook
Jul 28th
You might have spotted this recent article on Mashable, discussing the most popular social networks for link-sharing.
99% of emails I receive these days are work related and I use Facebook to keep in touch with my friends; I am sure you’re all trilled that chain/joke emails are now a thing of the past! Remember these FW: FW: FW: FW: emails we used to receive in our inboxes?
Looking at my own link-sharing behaviour, sharing a link on Facebook and sharing a link on Twitter are two completely different things.
Facebook link-sharing could be classified as high-involvement link-sharing, i.e. I tend to be quite More >
How to launch a product with your community
Jul 7th
I recently discovered a brilliant video by Seesmic founder Loic Lemeur, who shares some insightful tips on how to use a community to successfully launch a product, as well the importance of WOM.
The video is in French, but I’ve tried to highlight some of the key learnings here.
To kick things off, Loic mentions that the Web can be segmented into 3 distinctive periods: - 1993-2000 were the years of the static web, i.e. the web was a reproduction of traditional offline media - 2000-2008 were the years of the social web (web 2.0), with the rise of blogs, More >

I started engaging with them and their perception of the client immediately became positive More >

Contagious Mag, recently published their Best of 2008 report.
Most Contagious 2008 View more documents from gregfromparis. As we’re almost in 2009, I just thought I would highlight my personal favs of 2008:
1) The Obama Campaign – a truly amazing integrated Social Media Marketing campaign, with Obama being quite literally everywhere! I am slightly dissappointed to see that the Twittering stopped the day Obama was elected but the blog is still going strong... to be continued
2) The iPhone – although I wasn’t particularly keen on the iPhone when it was launched, I am now officially in love with its touch screen and numerous cool More >
Blogs are stronger, better and faster than ever!
Oct 27th
A powerful global conversation has begun. Through the Internet, people are discovering and inventing new ways to share relevant knowledge with blinding speed. As a direct result, markets are getting smarter—and getting smarter faster than most companies. These markets are conversations.
The Cluetrain Manifesto
According to a recent Wired article by Paul Boutin, blogging is dead. Interestingly, I read a similar article in French financial paper ‘Echos’ a couple of years ago that also predicted the end of blogs… and guess what? I read around 120 active blogs on a daily basis! The blogosphere is healthier than ever, and to quote Paul, More >
When did we start trusting strangers?

‘There a fundamental change in the way we search and source and share opinions, and today anyone can wield opinions far beyond their immediate social groups
I’ve just stumbled upon a fantastic research study carried out by Universal McCann aiming at understanding how consumers use, and interact with social media.
Universal McCann surveyed 17,000 active Internet users in 29 countries, making it one of the most wide reaching investigations into the subject of influence and WOM. Every market is representative by age (16-54) and gender.
They identified 3 key trends: the Rise of Social Media, Digital Friends and the Proliferation of Influencer Channels.
