A few social, search and mobile trends for 2012

I am not usually a big fan of prediction posts, particularly when it comes to social, but recently spotted a handful of predictions by industry experts worth mentioning.   Without further ado, here are a handful interesting social, search and mobile trends for 2012. These 3 disciplines are inextricably interlinked, yet too often siloed, so I figured I would sum them all up in one...

    Blogfest 2011 - Topshop's smart Tumblr strategy

Here is at long last, my first entry for the Bathroom Blogfest 2011 on how Topshop uses to Tumblr to 'climb out'. I do promise I'll put up a bathroom related post tomorrow for fun though! Here we go! Brands have embraced social media as a means to 'climb out' and 'hang out' with their fans on social networks. Some brands do it well, others have had their fails...  I've been in working in the social industry for a ...

Using social content to drive sales through search

There’s a very wrong assumption floating around the heads of many CMO’s and small business owners alike, that having a Facebook page and Twitter profile is enough, because social media is this new and wonderful thing which is going ‘to do wonders’ for your brand. I am sure we’ve all had clients who have asked for thousands of fans and followers, as quickly as possible without any content, or budget to create conte...

Latest viral game on Facebook – Miss Fighter

I am not a gamer, but I do enjoy good old fashioned 2D games now and again. I had a lot of fun playing Hot Dog Bush earlier this this year, when Bush was ‘kicked out’ of the White House.

The latest game hotting things up in France, is Miss Fighter, a simple 2D game where players have to shoots as many Misses as they can to shut them up.

Unlike other Facebook game that send you lots of (sometimes) spammy notifications, Miss Fighter combines a number of ingredients that have helped the game go viral: - A global leader board More >

Last night’s London Bloggers Meet Up was sponsored by Symantec who bought us all a few drinks and donated a few anti-viruses. Nice!

I’ve always had Norton installed on my machine, and it is simply the best software on the market in my humble experience. I made the huge mistake of switching to Kapersky last year (my bank were offering the software for free), and my computer ended up being infected by countless nasty viruses. I had to reset my computer to factory settings to get rid of them – quite radical if you ask me!

I recently purchased a shiny new More >

I went to Paris for the first time in my life last week-end, and had a fantastic time catching up with a few friends in the French capital.

The Comité Régional du Tourisme of Paris Ile-de-France have recently launched their “Toi, moi et Paris” European campaign, and have asked a number of bloggers to share their ideal vision of the ‘New Paris’.

The objective of this campaign is to make Paris more attractive by highlighting its energy, creativity, romantic yet modern side. I have to admit that I always felt that Paris was a ‘boring’ city, and lacked London’s edge and More >

They sent the perfect PR pitch last week, and I even won a Tweeshirt! What else could a geek ask for?

T-shirt printing company clothes2order are currently running a nice little competition asking Twitterers to send a Tweet they’d like to see printed on a T-Shirt. Here’s what to do to win a Tweeshirt: - Follow @Clothes2order on Twitter - Send them a tweet you’d like to see printed on a T-shirt using the #tweeshirt hashag before 14.30 - The winner will be announced at 15.30 every Friday

I have had good and bad experience ordering customised T-shirts online in the past, however the More >

Cobra recently created this Twitter micro-site to celebrate National Curry Week, whereby Twitter users can enter their @names and Tweet their curry type.

The activity aims to reinforce Cobra’s positioning as the beer of choice when eating a curry.

There are however a number of fails in their approach:

- I would have liked to see a big ‘Tweet your curry type’ button on the Twitter micro-site. Their share this button isn’t particularly user-friendly. In addition, no Twitter hashtag was included in the Tweets.

- The Twitter micro site doesn’t link back to their main corporate website and I wasn’t quite sure More >
