A cocktail of advertising, social media, and technology
A cocktail of advertising, social media, and technology
Oct 3rd
So I got my Blog cocktail card this morning courtesy Splendid Communications, and I’ll be having a go at making the ‘New York Lolly cocktail’ at the week-end
I think Splendid Communications did a brilliant job at establishing relationship with the 50 or so bloggers who attended the Bloggers Meet Up on Tuesday, but they also managed to create a lot of buzz around the Smirnoff brand and the Moscow Mule via a variety of online venues such as the London Bloggers own blogs, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook but also YouTube, where you can watch a video of the making of the Moscow Mule.
The real challenge for Splendid, will be to keep their Facebook page an exciting place for its fans.
Once again, thanks for everything guys – I had a blast!
And remember, a happy blogger is a blogger who will write about your product!

Here’s a collection of PR pitches that landed in my inbox recently – some good, some, err, not so good!
PR pitch #1: Twitter = Talking in public
Tim from Olgivy, sent me an email yesterday asking me to blog about an ad campaign for a technology giant. I love advertising so technically it should have been something I would have been happy to blog about… and the ads also looked good.
Such a shame his pitch was the worst piece of PR I have ever seen! I hated the tone of voice in his email (sounded like he couldn’t be bothered), and the email looked like copy/paste job…. but the icing on the cake was this tweet:
Tim will hopefully learn that talking on Twitter = talking in public. I found the tweet by following the blog link on his signature email!
Pitch #2: Bloggers and dating
This morning I found an interesting article in my inbox – 50 reasons to date a geek. Let me get this right – I am a blogger, hence a geek, hence single right?
The article is a little repetitive but nevertheless fun to read.
Pitch #3: Geeks unleashed at blogology
I attended the awesome monthly Bloggers Meet Up organised by Andy Bargery with the help of PR agency Splendid last night.
The Meet Up took Place at Diageo’s offices just behind Bond Street, to promote the Smirnoff brand, and the Moscow Mule, a tasty cocktail made of vodka, ginger ale, and a dash of lime.
Slpendid PR also did a fantastic job at reading our blogs and coming up with cocktails individually designed & personalised for ourselves and our blogs.
Good to see the usual suspects but also Julius, Hayley (albeit briefly) as well as some new faces!
