Here’s my selection of top Twitter tools for September 2009; in no particular order:
1) CoTweet: A fantastic service for managing multiple Twitter accounts, ‘CoTweet is a platform that helps companies reach and engage customers using Twitter’ and also lets you monitor trends for each account
2) UberTwitter: the must have app for your Blackberry, UberTwitter easily lets you favourite tweets, check your @replies and DMs as you would on a desktop
3) Topsy: Topsy is a ’search engine powered by Tweets’ and a fantastic monitoring tool to find out who’s Tweeting what (most Tweeted links) about your brand
4) Twitter Search Results on Google (hat tip to the lovely @msamayoa): Ever fancied adding Twitter search onto your Google search results? You can now do that by downloading Firefox add-on Greasemonkey combined with the Twitter Search Results userscript – see screenshot below.

Have I missed anything out? What other Twitter tools and apps do you use?

There are so many Twitter tools out there that’s it’s hard to know which ones are worth using. Here are my tried and tested top 5 Twitter tools; some of these tools are new, others have been around for a while…
1) I have a real soft spot for Tiny Chat at the mo! Tiny Chat is a chatroom where you can host audio and video conferences with a number of friends/colleagues; in addition you can easily share documents with other members of the chat.
2) Splitweet is a great little tool for managing multiple Twitter accounts. They always make a point at listening to their community to improve the user-experience, and also seem to regularly introduce new features. Definitely worth checking out.
3) Do you feel like your friends list is getting out of control? Why don’t you give Twitter Karma a go. Twitter Karma is a Flash application that fetches your friends and followers from Twitter and easily lets you unfollow people not updating/not following you back or simply those you feel you should never have followed in the first place!
4) TweetMeme WP Plugin: TweetMeme is a plugin that easily allows your blog posts to be retweeted by your readers. TweetMeme is great to measure the buzz surrounding your blog posts, and also aggregates the popular links on Twitter to determine which links are popular; think of it as a Digg for Twitter.
5) TwitterFox: TwitterFox is a Firefox extension that notifies you of your friends’ tweets directly from your browser. This extension adds a status bar on the bottom right-hand side of your browser which notifies you when your friends update their tweets. You can also reply to mentions or DMs directly from your browser. I useTwitterFox as alternative to TweetDeck when I don’t feel like having an extra application running in the background (my laptop is getting old!)
The one to watch…
TweetBoard, recently featured on Mashable is the next tool on my must check out list! Tweetboard is a Twitter powered ‘microforum’ for website owners who want to display threaded Twitter conversations on their own site and create an instant Twitter-powered forum. Can’t wait to check it out!
Are there any other Twitter tools that you feel should be included in this list? Looking forward to your recommendations!
